Torch Lake Federal Credit Union was originated through the Knights of Columbus as a cooperative method in giving small loans to local people. It was chartered in 1955. The original founders were Harry Trainer, Louis Koepel, and Peter Pini.   Over the years our assets and membership have grown and our services have expanded to meet the needs of our members along with the demands of current technology. Originally our office in Lake Linden was a small rental office but as we grew, the need for a larger facility was apparent, and in 1994 we built our Lake Linden Branch and in 1997 the NorthEnd Branch was opened  to provide  another convenient location to our members.   Torch Lake Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, therefore we operate solely to meet the needs of our members. Our Board of Directors consists of seven members who are elected annually by the membership at the annual meeting. They are volunteer and establish the policies under which the credit union will operate.
